NY is the last Melting Pot

The phrase "salad bowl" is now commonly used a symbol of pride. But the origins of immigration in the U.S. were never so permissive. Most immigrants had to assimilate. The idea that a melting pot should be undone, or that it is harmful, is kind of like Catalonia declaring independence while tanks roll into Paris (presumably from the East). Sure, it is symbolic during peace time, but in a time of war, the way of life that many seek to preserve is usually shared. Fun Fact: In Lucy Sante's "Low Life: Lures and Snares of Old New York" (1991), the Draft Riots of 1863 were the closest NY ever got to anarchy. New Yorkers have always been the first to do everything. Oakland Vietnam draft dodgers weren't new. Gays didn't fight the battle of Stonewall Inn in 1969 for the faux-liberalism of today. If I were president, all Americans would need to immigrate to the Sovereign (Southern) District of New York through the Holland Tunnel and stay there for at least 5 years before they could be considered American. NYC has the perfect blend of salad bowl and melting pot ingredients for forging strong American character that NY county should be the legal Guardian of all Americans until verifiable adulthood.
